Fantan village is one of the places that beautifies Charentsavan community of Kotayk provience. It is located on the northern slope of Gutanasar mountain. The village with 1040 inhabitants has 230 households. They are mainly engaged in agriculture and field work. <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>In 1932, the people of the village moved here from the settlement called Tezkharab. Initially, the inhabitants of the village lived with the malaks. There were also other ethnic minorities in the village: Kurds and Yezidis. Now, only Armenians (many of whom are descendants of immigrants) and a few Yazidi families live in the village.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row content_placement=”top”][vc_column offset=”vc_col-md-6″]\t\t

The covenant of the village<\/h3>\n

Simple, kind and extremely united – this is how Fantan’s people are. The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, built in the 19th century, is also located here. Every year, the second week of June is celebrated as the village covenant day. Fantantsi from different places gather in their native village and make a vow with joyful celebrations.<\/span>

There are many stories related to the name of village. They say that there used to be many water resources in the village. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Gugh was called Sukhoi Fantan due to its absence.
